크리스챤 락밴드 페트라(Petra) - Enter in, Think Twice

크리스챤 락밴드의 전설 PETRA 이야기를 좀 해보려고 합니다. 페트라는 헬라어로 반석이라는 뜻입니다. 영어로는 뜻이 Rock이구요. 영어로 밴드이름을 말하면 "크리스챤 락밴드 락" 이 되겠네요!! 하핫~ (물론 페트라의 미국식 발음은 피터입니당~^^) 1972년에 노방전도목적으로 팀이 만들어졌다고 합니다. 2년 뒤에 첫 앨범을 내게 되는데... 앨범을 낸 뒤부터는 아마 노방전도는 물건너가지 않았을까 싶습니다. 본인들 음악활동 자체만으로도 엄청 바빴을테니까요. 그들에겐 음악활동 그 자체가 사업이자 곧 사역이 되어버린 셈이죠. (사역이 음악보다 먼저라는 마인드를 항상 가지고 있었답니다.) 페트라가 이 때까지 발매한 앨범은 이렇습니다.

20장이 넘는 앨범을 발매했네요. 고딩시절에 가끔씩 페트라를 들어볼 기회가 있었는데 본격적으로 페트라를 들었던 것은 제가 대학생이 되던 1995년 부터입니다. 그 때 발매된 앨범이 No Doubt 인데요, 자취방과 동아리방에서 엄청 들었었죠. (저보다 연배가 위이신 분들에겐 Beyond Belief, Unseen Power, Wake-Up Call  같은 앨범의 추억이 더 찐하겠지요. 물론 더 지긋하신 분들은 This Means War!, On Fire!, Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out 같은 앨범이 더 와닿을실거구요~) 아무튼 저에겐 노다웃(No Doubt) 이 앨범자체가 추억이고 어느 한 곡 빼놓을 수 없이 소중한 곡들인데, 그래도 그 중에 최고를 뽑으라면 Enter in과 Think Twice를 들 수 있겠습니다.

제가 하도 Enter in을 많이 부르고 다녀서 그 당시 고딩이었던 교회 후배녀석이 제 영향을 받아서 중고등부 SFC 연합모임같은데 가서 발표시간에 이 노래를 불렀다가 담당전도사님의 뜨거운 기도를 받았다고 합니다. "주여, 저런 세상의 사악한 문화가 교회에 이렇게 들어와 있습니다. 깨끗하게 씻기시고..." 

후훗... 후배만 불쌍하게 됐네요 ㅋㅋ

그러고보니 페트라도 초창기에는 지역교회의 반발을 많이 샀다고 합니다. 초창기면 70년 중반에서 80년대 초반인데, 확실히 우리나라 전반적인 문화수준이 미국보다 10년~15년씩 늦었어요. 하지만 요즘은 많이 좋아졌죠!!

한참 페트라를 잊고 살다가 유튜브에 페트라를 검색해보니 뮤직비디오가 있더라구요. 2010년 쯤에 유튜브로 다시 본 페트라의 뮤비는 상당히 촌스러웠습니다. 물론 음악은 최강입니다!! Enter in 과 Think Twice의 뮤비입니다. (뮤비는 궁금하신 분들만!! 뮤비는 안보는게 더 좋을지 모르겠네요... 하핫~ -_-;)
